TheIB PrimaryYears'Program(PYP) placesstudents inone classroomwith oneteacher formost oftheir learningtime.In theIBMiddleYear'sProgramme,students begintospecialize indistinctdisciplines andare taughtby eightdifferentteachers. Thiscan bea difficulttransitionfor studentsandparents, whooftenperceive theMYPas avastlydifferentprogram.TransitionDay, whenGrade5 studentsspend aday inUpperSchool,highlights thesimilaritiesbetween theprograms andemphasizeshow theskills andknowledge theyhave learnedin thePYP preparethem forsuccess intheMYP andhelp themformconnections withthe UpperSchoolcommunity.
Thisyear'sTransitionDay beganwith aQ&A panelofMYP1 studentsto addressanymisconceptionsandalleviate concernsabout theMYP. Studentsthen spentthe majorityof theirday visitingtheirMath,English,Science, andHumanitiesclasses forthe followingyear.These classesprovided valuableopportunitiesfor learnersto getto knowtheir futureteachers andwhat andhow theywill belearning intheMYP.The dayconcluded asit began– withtheMYP1students. Thesecaring andprincipledlearners carefullyprepared anddelivered engaginglessons onthe skillsthat fifthgraderswill needin theMYPandparticipated alongsidethem inateam-basedchallenge toreflect ontheday. Wewrapped thingsup ona sweetnote,enjoying icecream andcamaraderie. UpperSchool looksforward togreetingthePYP 5students asMYP1s inAugust!
中学一日体验:五年级学生向MYP的过渡。

在IB小学PYP阶段,学生们在一位主班老师的带领下,进行跨学科学习。然而,当他们进入IB中学MYP课程阶段时,他们将由八位学科老师带领,学习不同的课程科目。这种转变可能会让学生和家长感到不适应,因为这意味着学生们将不再像在小学时那样有固定的老师指导他们的学习。为了帮助他们适应这种转变,五年级学生在中学部参与了一天的时间,以便更好地了解中学的学习内容和方式。这一安排不仅让学生们看到了中学和小学在课程项目上的相似之处,还帮助他们回顾了自己在小学时所学到的技能和知识,从而更好地利用这些技能和知识在中学的MYP课程中取得成功。此外,五年级学生也开始与中学部的学生和老师们建立联系。
今年的过渡日以MYP1学生回答五年级的问题开始,旨在消除误解、缓解担忧,并让小学毕业生对MYP充满期待和兴奋。接下来,五年级学生们主要体验了中学部的数学、英语、科学和人文课堂,以便更好地了解未来的老师和中学课程项目的学习内容和学习方式。一天结束后,富有爱心和原则的MYP1学生们向五年级学生传授了在中学MYP需要掌握的技能,并与他们一起参加了团队挑战,总结反思这一天。过渡日最后以甜美的冰淇凌时光结束,充满鼓舞和友情。中学部期待在8月迎接升入MYP1的新同学!
